Sir Paul, is a Lancastrian, originating in East Lancashire, who rose through the ranks to the highest national position possible, having served an earlier part of his career in a neighbouring town to Clitheroe.  He has chosen to spend his retirement from the force within our midst, so we can rightly claim him as ‘one of us!’
By inclination and perhaps by necessity, he is a very private man, and whilst perhaps somewhat different to our usual monthly fare, we are indeed most fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to his presentation and to explore other areas of interest and opinion.
One only needs to listen to the recent news to understand the complexities of the role within our society.
